Lake Pueblo State Park
Lake Pueblo State Park is a few miles west of the City of Pueblo. You can bicycle, run or walk upstream along the Arkansas River trail from any trailhead in town. You will pass the Nature Center with restrooms, picnic tables and sometimes a cafe for a drink. You will pass along award winning trout fishing in the Arkansas River and two white water parks with surf waves.
Part of over 30 miles of concrete trail connecting both marinas, campgrounds, the City of Pueblo to the east and Pueblo West to the northwest. Connects to two white water parks downstream below the dam.
29 miles of the infamous South Shore Trails near the South Marina, Red Gate area and west to Voo Doo loop
Roughly 8 miles of single track trails off Railroad Rd leading to lake overlooks and campgrounds.
Paddling Lake Pueblo in kayak or SUP is relaxing in no wake areas of the lake shown on the map below. The lake is prone to high winds later in the day and capsizes boats each year. Always wear a personal floatation device (PVD) and tether to SUP as wind can come up suddenly. You are more protected from the wind and waves from motor boats and jet skis in protected coves than the main channel of the lake. The Boggs Creek area has amazing sunsets with nice beach access. A lot of people enjoy Sailboard beach northwest of the dam. Bird watchers and fisherman enjoy the far west end with sections of flooded forest.
