Long Range Planning

Pueblo Area Council of Governments (PACOG) works on Long Range Transportation and other plans. There are a lot of projects planned, just not yet funded.  How do we raise awareness to the importance of a project?

Printed maps are available at local bike shops, Parks and Recreation and City Planning Department.

Advocating for Change

Advocacy is a long, slow road but sometimes pays off big!  You can't just complain on social media or attend one public meeting and expect change. You need to know who to call (know the jurisdiction-is it city, county, state property), how to sell your concerns, raise awareness and keep trying.

Focus on the 5Es discussed in making Safer Routes for Kids going to School.

Not all problems are infrastructure, they might be better handled with education or by law enforcement.

PACE (Pueblo Active Community Environments) has advocated for a bicycle and pedestrian friendly community by working with PACOG (Pueblo Area Council of Governments including City of Pueblo, Pueblo County, Pueblo West Metro, CDOT, Lake Pueblo State Park) and more. We advocate for connected bike lanes, trails, sidewalks, bike racks, advocate for safety, started weekly Cruiser Rides in 2011 and Bike to Work events, Commuter Cup Challenge in 2010 to connect with others at a human pace.  We want to promote all the active options you can enjoy in our amazing community with 330 days of sunshine a year!

We meet once monthly on the 3rd Thursday at 4:00 p.m. on Zoom. Check out "About PACE" for details on meetings, events & projects to get involved.
