Explore Pueblo Levee Murals

Ride, walk or run the Levee and Arkansas River trails:

  • Figure 8 three bridges loops (link):  4.8 miles total

  • Wild Horse Levee Loop:  2 mile loop from Charles Lee suspension bridge to Wild Horse bridge on concrete river trail and gravel levee trail. 

  • Kayak Park Levee Loop: 3 mile loop from Charles Lee bridge, along levee to Harvey Nuckells bridge to river trail to Moffat bridge and up the levee again 

Another 1.4 miles upstream from Wildhorse Bridge is the new Waterworks Park.  You can enjoy this upper loop on both sides of the river for a total 3.1 miles loop.

Kayak/SUP Arkansas River and Mural Alley:

 

Get out at Suspension Bridge before Kayak Park unless you are experienced in white water and know where to exit before dangerous low head dam near Moffat bridge.

  • Shortest paddle: put in at Wild Horse bridge to Charles Lee bridge (1st suspension bridge) at 4th St trailhead (middle of murals just above older Kayak park & Pillars Park)

  • 1 mile float:  put in at Reservoir Road to 4th St 

  • 3 mile float:  put in below City Park at the new Waterworks Park and pedestrian bridge to 4th St 

  • 6 mile float: put in below Lake Pueblo dam to the 4th St trailhead. You get to ride six fun, splashy drops and the surf wave halfway down at the new Waterworks Park.

CAUTION  advised - wear an approved personal floatation device (life jacket) at all times on rivers.​

  1. Portage (carry boat) around dangerous/deadly low head dam below 2nd suspension bridge and the end of the levee.  Signs tell you to exit river.

  2. Wear an approved personal floatation device at all times on rivers.

  3. Check water flow and dangers as river is constantly changing.

  4. Go with others in case of trouble and to have more fun.

Exit after 1st suspension bridge unless experienced in kayak park below here. Make sure to exit river before dangerous low head dam downstream after the 2nd suspension bridge.

We advocate for connected bike lanes, trails, sidewalks, bike racks, advocate for safety, started weekly Cruiser Rides in 2011 and Bike to Work events, Commuter Cup Challenge in 2010 to connect with others at a human pace.  We want to promote all the active options you can enjoy in our amazing community with 330 days of sunshine a year!
