Outdoor Venues around Pueblo
Pueblo offers many venues for outdoor activities. These include several city parks, Lake Pueblo State Park and the Nature and Raptor Center which are all accesible using our extensive bike trail system. Many of these locations provide great starting points to access the trails, or simply enjoy the outdoors. In addition to bicyle and pedestrian activities, visitor and residents can go running, swimming, kayaking, hiking, and. golfing. They can play tennis, baseball, softball, soccer and even frisbee golf. Below are some locations where you can take advantage of these activities.
Mountain Park Environmental Center (MPEC Trails) - "The vision that led to the creation of Mountain Park Environmental Center (MPEC) is built on a foundation of promoting societal ecological literacy through environmental education. Or, to put it more simply, providing opportunities for people to learn about and connect with Nature. A decade later, this vision continues to be the guiding principle of our organization. Lake Pueblo State Park - "Lake Pueblo State Park is a premier destination in Southeast Colorado for trails. With thirty four miles of trails open to both hiking and biking, spend the weekend exploring the park on our trail system. The paved Pueblo River Trail connects the city to the park for bicyclists and hikers. The paved Pueblo Reservoir Trail connects Rock Canyon, the Visitor Center, the South Shore Marina, the North Shore Marina, and the campgrounds." - Colorado State Parks Department
Raptor and Nature Center - "Our facilities offer a variety of activites including picnicking, wildlife viewing, fishing, kayaking, and nature walks under stately cottonwoods. Pueblo Whitewater Park - "The Whitewater Park is located in downtown Pueblo. It is with-in walking distance of shops and restaurants in the Historic Downtown District between Union Ave. and the West 4th Street Bridge. The park has eight drops and is approximately 1/2 mile long. The south bank has the world's largest mural. " - City of Pueblo
Pueblo West Parks and Recreation - "PWMD owns and maintains a total of four parks (26.5 acres), offering amenities such as picnic tables, playgrounds, ballfields, open greenbelt areas and a pool. Besides the programs and activities, Pueblo West itself features a wide variety of outdoor activities.
